Playtime in the Mother City (for less than R100)

Cape Town is notorious for its vacation lifestyle, mountain scenery and the winery. However, as a person who likes being playfully active, I've found some fun gems for playtime in the Mother City that are very student-budget friendly.

I hired a bike from the Sea Point Upcycles station and it took less than an hour (including getting lost) to get to The Waterfront. The trip included getting on the Marina Swing Bridge before returning at The Silo District Upcycles station. The breeze that hits you while cycling along the beach is a different kind of fresh air. Hiring a bike costs R80 per hour (and R120 for 2hrs).

Cape Town is filled with mini-golf courses all around, but the Cave Golf at The Waterfront is my personal favourite. For R50, you can enjoy a round of put-put IN A CAVE and get a R20 refund at the end of your game!

Since you're already at The Waterfront, Battery Park offers a park for you to try rollerskating. I tried visiting the park, but it was full on the day therefore I do recommend you pre-book on the Rollercade website

I wasn't toooo disappointed when the rollercade bust failed because that meant going ice skating instead - for the second time that weekend. The only Ice Rink in the Western Cape is located at Grand West Casino and only costs R50 per hour session and the longer evening session is R65. Listen, I'm a firm believer that summer is better than winter, but the cold rush while ice skating almost makes me understand the winter lovers. Almost.

I've only tried this once, but lastly, the Century Kart Racing at Century City is a must-do. I purchased a voucher for 15 laps on the track on wikideals for less than R100. I must warn you though, the track is very loud and they are very strict with their rules, but I promise it's worth channeling your inner Lewis Hamilton.
